Celtic are on the verge of signing Charlotte FC playmaker Riley McGree in a move that should delight boss Ange Postecoglou.
How much are Celtic paying for McGree?
Reports broke on Sunday surrounding Celtic making a move to sign McGree.
It seemed to come out nowhere. McGree has been on loan at Birmingham City for the last 18 months but is now heading to MLS.
That’s what we thought, anyway. Instead, it looks like McGree will be off to Scotland to start his career with Celtic.
The Athletic’s San Stejskal has taken to Twitter to claim that the fee involved is around $3million (£2.2million), with the scope for add-ons between $1million and $2million (£750,000 and £1.5million).
The Scottish Sun state that the fee is around £3million, which may well factor in the £750,000 in add-ons.
Either way, McGree is heading to Glasgow to join forces with his compatriot Ange Postecoglou…

What has Postecoglou said about McGree?
Postecoglou no doubt knows plenty about the top talents in Australia, and he has known about McGree for years.
Speaking to Goal back in 2017, Postecoglou highlighted McGree as a real talent.
Postecoglou admitted he thought McGree was ‘exciting’ as soon as he broke into the Adelaide United team, adding that he liked how McGree had been playing.
Now with over a year of Championship football under his belt, McGree seems ready for the next step.
A ‘luxury’ playmaker according to Lee Bowyer, McGree adds depth at Celtic but don’t rule out the prospect of him becoming a star under Postecoglou.
