Celtic have January plans in place as Ange Postecoglou hints that deals may be in the pipeline for the transfer window.

The Bhoys end their Champions League campaign this evening as they travel to take on Real Madrid.

Celtic sit bottom go Group F and sadly can’t go into the Europa League.

No wins, two draws and three defeats from five games shows that for all of Celtic’s brilliance in Scotland, there is still work to be done in Europe.

Celtic have January plans in place

Celtic will absolutely feel that they already have the right manager for the job in Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian has been very successful in terms of domestic results but has also brought a superb style of play to Parkhead.

Recruitment has been impressive for Celtic in the Postecoglou era but they still need a little more quality.

Just look at the names Postecoglou has overseen signing; Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josip Juranovic, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Liel Abada, Jota, Kyogo Furuhashi… that’s pretty incredible.

Recruitment is a never-ending process though and Celtic will be looking for January signings too.

The Daily Mail have reported this week that Celtic have opened talks with Vissel Kobe over a deal for defender Yuki Kobayashi.

Celtic have allegedly prioritised the signing of a left-sided centre back and Kobayashi looks to be the top target.

With a strong base of Japanese players already on board in Hatate, Kyogo, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi, Kobayashi could join the contingent.

Postecoglou has unsurprisingly been asked about Kobayashi and gave a predictably coy answer.

Postecoglou has told the Glasgow Evening Times that it’s still a little early to be talking about the transfer window when it’s two months away.

Still, Postecoglou claimed that plans have been in place for January signings ‘for a while now’ and Celtic hope to have deals completed in the coming weeks, a massively exciting hint for all Bhoys fans.

“We have gone early on the January market haven’t we?” said Postecoglou. “It’s just into November, so I’ve a lot of talking about that ahead. As I said before we have a strategy in place which I am really comfortable with in terms of making sure we are always looking to improve our squad and improve the way we do things. We take away the experiences we have had at Champions League level and domestic level and try to be better and every window gives you that opportunity.”

“We’ve had some plans in place for January for a while now. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will be able to conclude some of that. The whole idea is to make this squad stronger for the second half of the year,” he added.
