Celtic appear to have a couple of signings lined up for January with Ange Postecoglou keeping an eye on some World Cup players.

The Bhoys headed into the World Cup break sitting pretty at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Not only are Celtic now nine points clear of Rangers but their bitter rivals have now sacked their manager and need a replacement.

Celtic aren’t resting on their laurels though and are pushing for a couple of January additions.

Celtic have ‘couple’ of signings lined up

Just look at the last January window.

Celtic were able to bring in three signings from Japan as Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi arrived in Glasgow.

Matt O’Riley arrived from Milton Keynes Dons too, capping off a very positive January window.

Postecoglou will be looking for the same again this time around and appears to have a couple of targets in mind.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Postecoglou indicated that he is actually watching a couple of players at the World Cup in the hope of luring them to Celtic.

Fans will naturally assume that Postecoglou will have one eye on Japan, who kick off their World Cup campaign against Germany today.

Celtic have been heavily linked with Vissel Kobe defender Yuki Kobayashi but he is not part of the Japan squad over in Qatar.

Postecoglou added that Celtic have a ‘couple’ of signings already lined up for January.

The Australian loves to have deals lined up early; that’s ultimately how Celtic landed Hatate, Maeda and Ideguchi last season.

Kobayashi is surely one of those signings already heading to Parkhead in January with his Vissel Kobe contract coming to an end.

Postecoglou’s other targets are unclear but it’s exciting for Celtic fans to know that we’re not even in December and yet the Bhoys are already striking January deals.

“I’ll watch it (the World Cup). It’s one of those events you get engrossed in when it comes around,” said Postecoglou. “There are always great stories and we’ve got a few participants in there. There might be a couple of others I’m looking at as well…”

“It’s fair to say there’s a couple lined up. It’s how we’ve done things and how I believe we need to be. It’s how I’m built. I don’t like rushing around last minute. It’s not always the case. Matt O’Riley we did in three days last year. We saw an opportunity and moved really quickly. We need to be agile when we need to and when we don’t, we can methodically plan to make sure we get things done. If we can get guys early, once January 1 hits they are already part of this football club,” he added.
