Celtic fans absolutely love Ange Postecoglou, but there’s an alternative world where he ended up helping Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht.
Considering Postecoglou wasn’t actually Celtic’s first choice for the job, the Australian has proven to be a dream appointment.
Celtic spent so long chasing Eddie Howe, and when a manager with limited experience in Europe was appointed in Postecoglou, some were confused.
Mostly known for managing in Australia and Japan, Postecoglou didn’t have a glittering CV. Fortunately, history counts for little.
Postecoglou has won the hearts of Celtic fans this season, bringing an attractive brand of football to Parkhead.
The Australian has spoken brilliantly in the media throughout his time in charge and his recruitment has been exceptional.
Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota, Liel Abada, Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley, Josip Juranovic… Celtic’s rebuild has been accelerated by brilliant signings.
Everything appears to be falling into place for Celtic much quicker than anticipated, leading to huge praise for Postecoglou.
Now, former striker Craig Bellamy has made a shock claim about Postecoglou and Vincent Kompany’s love for him.
Bellamy worked alongside Kompany in a coaching role at Anderlecht, and has admitted that Kompany wanted Postecoglou to make the move to Belgium.

Speaking to The Central Club, Bellamy claims that Kompany loved what Postecoglou was doing in Japan and wanted to add him to the Anderlecht staff.
“He was very, very different as a player to what I’ve come across. Just his stature, everything about him, when he walks into a room you know he walks in. He has a real presence about him,” said Bellamy.
“He’s so forward in that he wants to know everything. He wants to know things like ‘what’s going on with his fitness?’, ‘what’s going on in Japan there? They’ve got this coach here, we like him, look at what he’s doing’. He ended up going to Celtic, but he wanted to bring him in with us. But he’s ahead,” he added.
Anderlecht couldn’t even get Postecoglou as their manager now, never mind as a coach.
That just goes to show the huge progress he is making at Celtic, and the Bhoys will be thankful for having him.
