A select round-up of the latest news involving Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops.
Dominic Ball
Dominic Ball has told the Evening Times that he may not have played his last match for Rangers as he would like to return to the club at some point in his career.
The defender spent last season on loan at Ibrox. But despite his permanent switch to Rotherham United ending any chance of an immediate return, he suggested that it is still something he would like to do.
“I absolutely loved my time at Rangers and I would love to go back at some point. We will see how my career pans out and what lies ahead for me,” he told the Evening Times.
Philippe Senderos
Mark Warburton could be on the verge of replacing Ball with Philippe Senderos as The Scottish Sun suggests that a deal could be completed within the next 24 hours.
The former Premier League defender has been training with the Gers, and is now expected to agree a contract, according to The Scottish Sun.
One player that the Light Blues look like they may miss out on is Livingston starlet Matthew Knox, according to the Daily Record.
The 16-year-old has been handed a second trial at Manchester United, and the Record claims that he would prefer a move south of the border despite Ibrox interest.
Joe Garner has told Preston’s official website that the decision to swap Deepdale for Rangers was a very difficult one because of the support he received during his time with the Lilywhites.
“It was a very hard decision for me to leave, if only because of the amazing backing I have had from the fans. They took me to their hearts and I couldn’t have asked for any more and I leave with some amazing memories,” he told the club’s official website.
Everton’s James McCarthy
Celtic are among a host of clubs reportedly interested in signing Everton midfielder James McCarthy, according to the Daily Mail.
The Hoops are keen on a loan move for the former Wigan man but face competition from teams in the Premier League and Championship, the Mail adds.
Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre
Finally, The Scottish Sun report that Celtic are not looking for as much as £1m for wantaway full-back Emilio Izaguirre due to the fact that he has entered the final year of his contract.
