Zulte Waregam are expected to demand around £2.5 million if Rangers and Celtic come calling for Saido Berahino, according to Voetbal Nieuws.
It’s not going to be a happy summer for the Essevee.
Alongside Canada international Cyle Larin, Berahino enjoyed a fine 2019/20 campaign over in Belgium with an impressive strike pairing netting 15 of the club’s 41 Jupiler League goals.
But while Larin appears to be on his way back to parent club Besiktas, an Englishman who got his career back on track away from the limelight also appears to be packing his bags yet again.
TEAMtalk claims that Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic are competing to offer Berahino a fresh start in Glasgow.
The former West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City striker has already admitted to Sky Sports that Zulte Waregam have no choice but to sell him, with his wages proving problematic in an era hit by unprecedented levels of financial uncertainty.
“The club have had a chat with my agent and say they are going to listen to offers,” said a man once called up for the England national team before opting to represent Burundi.

“It’s a bit of a shame because I was having such a great time there. It was a big decision for me to move as I’ve not played outside of England before.”
Berahino obviously blossomed away from the pressure and the spotlight of the English game.
But, if a move to Celtic or Rangers does occur, it will be interesting to see how he adapts to being the main man in one of the most expectant and pressurised environments in Europe.
Celtic and Rangers fans do not take any prisoners after all. Though, at a bargain £2.5 million, Berahino may be a risk worth taking.
