Sky Sports claim that Celtic have made a breakthrough in talks with Lanus and have agreed to sign Bernabei for £3.75million.
Hailed as an ‘interesting’ talent by South American football expert Tim Vickery, Bernabei is an exciting addition for Celtic.
The 21-year-old is a former winger who has pace and real attacking play, whilst he stands at a diminutive 5ft 7in tall.
Bernabei could be seen as a very expansive alternative to Taylor and Celtic appear to be closing in on his signing.
A video has now emerged of Bernabei saying a teary goodbye to his Lanus teammates inside their dressing room.
It’s clear that Bernabei is on his way out of Lanus and Celtic looks set to be his destination.
Bernabei may wish to have gone out on a better note; the left back was sent off against Colon on Sunday after headbutting an opponent.
Celtic won’t want to see any of that at Parkhead but will be looking for Bernabei to bring his competitive and aggressive streak within reason; that’s part of what made Scott Brown so popular after all.
