Celtic may have another chance to sign winger Alex Collado with Barcelona now optimistic about selling him at the end of the season.

Celtic fans may recognise Collado’s name after repeated rumours linking him with a move to Parkhead.

The Scottish Daily Mail (23/09/2020, back page and p86) reported that Celtic were trying to bring Collado to Glasgow.

The rumours returned last summer as Sky Sports reported in August that Celtic made an enquiry into signing the Barcelona talent.

No deal was done with Celtic as Collado instead joined another team who play in green and white in Elche.

Collado is only on loan from Barcelona though and it’s unclear whether Elche will want to keep the winger after one goal and one assist in nine outings.

Celtic have another chance to sign Barcelona’s Alex Collado

Well, ahead of the summer window it looks like Collado will be available once again.

Catalan newspaper SPORT report that Collado is one of a number of players Barcelona are trying to sell this summer.

Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet, Francisco Trincao, Sergino Dest and Collado are all seen as potential sales with all five out on loan this summer.

It’s stated that there is progress being made on selling some of those players and real optimism that they will go.

Collado won’t exactly rake in the cash for Barcelona but every sale is vital for the Catalan giants.

If Celtic still want the 23-year-old then they will have a chance, but that begs the question – does Ange Postecoglou really need him?

Celtic already have a host of wide players with Jota, Liel Abada, Sead Haksabanovic, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest all able to play on the flanks.

Unless one of those players is sold this summer, we can’t see Celtic going back in for Collado – even if they have liked him for a while.
