The Celtic hitman has found regular first-team action hard to come under Brendan Rodgers by recently.
Celtic ace Leigh Griffiths spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 1-0 win over bitter rivals Rangers in the Old Firm Derby yesterday, and shared his belief that Brendan Rodgers wants to play him and Odsonne Edouard together as a pair this season, as quoted by BBC Sport.
The 28-year-old had to make do with a place on the bench yesterday, but he did come on to replace the Frenchman after 66 minutes.
Celtic hitman Griffiths, though, believes that Rodgers is planning to play the two strikers together throughout the course of this season, especially at home, as quoted by BBC Sport:
“I think it’s something that the manager, especially at home, would like to try. The start of the season, he started with Moussa and Odsonne when I was injured and then me and Moussa started against Hamilton.”
The Scotland international joined the Hoops from Wolves in January 2014, and has gone on to score 100 goals for the club, but he will have his work cut-out this season, if he is to oust Edouard from the starting XI.
And Griffiths will be hoping that Rodgers does in fact choose to play with two up top, because if he does, it will mean that he will then be almost a certainty to start.
