Celtic ace Jozo Simunovic’s comments a warning for Rangers

Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic has told The Glasgow Evening Times that Brendan Rodgers’s side plan to increase the gap between themselves and Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

The Hoops are a point clear of second-placed Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, having played a fewer game than the Gers.

Simunovic – who joined Celtic from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £5 million – has outlined the Bhoys’ immediate plan regarding the Scottish Premiership title race.

Simunovic told The Glasgow Evening Times: “We are completely focused on domestic matters. We need to finish [the year] the right way for sure.

“We have to be smart and right to put a gap between ourselves and second place. We want to widen the gap and be further ahead at the top of the table –that is definitely the goal.”

Warning for Rangers

Celtic are in good form at the moment and appear to have rediscovered their old form in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers have been rather inconsistent in recent weeks, and Simunovic’s aforementioned comments suggest that the Gers will have to step up their game.

Gerrard’s side will take on Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on December 29.

The Old Firm derby later this month promises to be hugely exciting and entertaining, and the winners will get a massive boost for the rest of the season.
