Rangers currently sit ahead of Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

James Forrest has been quoted by BBC Sport as saying that Celtic’s title rivals such as Rangers and Kilmarnock have helped improve the Scottish Premiership this season.
The Hoops have dominated the top tier of Scottish football for the last seven years, and are in the midst of a battle for an eighth consecutive title this season. Forrest has certainly been the stand-out performer in Celtic’s side.
But Brendan Rodgers’ men could not have expected to be sitting in a lowly third place, just four games before the Christmas break. Indeed, Rangers sit top and Kilmarnock are in second place.
It is worth remembering that Celtic are only a point off the top, and have a game in hand over leaders Rangers. But Forrest believes Rangers and the Hoops’ other title rivals have helped improve the Scottish Premiership this term.
“Last year, compared to the manager’s first year, the league improved and you can see with the league table this year it’s improved again,” Forrest said. “There’s a few teams that have done really well and deserve to be up there
“I think everyone’s strengthened their squad and making it really hard. Teams are getting stronger. Maybe a couple of times we’ve not played to our capability and it has been shown that if we’re not at our best, teams can take points off you.”

Forrest has been arguably the best player in the league so far this season, scoring eight goals and creating five more in his 14 league appearances. The 27-year-old has 11 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.
Celtic play host to Stephen Robinson’s struggling Motherwell on Wednesday night in the league, and they could leapfrog to the top of the table with Killie not playing and Rangers facing a tough trip to Neil Lennon’s Hibernian.
