Celtic took the spoils in today’s huge Old Firm derby as they hammered Rangers 5-1 at Celtic Park earlier this afternoon.
Having lost to Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-finals back in April, Celtic had a real point to prove against their fierce rivals – and boy did they prove it.

The Bhoys took the lead as Moussa Dembele turned the ball home from a corner, and then raced through a static Rangers defence to score a second.
Joe Garner’s back-post header gave Rangers hope before half time, but Celtic grabbed a third through Scott Sinclair before Philippe Senderos was sent off on his Rangers debut.

Dembele then grabbed his hat-trick by driving beyond Wes Foderingham, and Stuart Armstrong turned home a fifth to complete the rout for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
It was an embarrassing afternoon for Rangers, but one of huge celebration for Celtic, who not only claimed the bragging rights in Glasgow, but also moved four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Immediately after the final whistle, former Celtic striker John Hartson took to Twitter to state that he felt Celtic were in third gear throughout, and that Rangers were ‘totally inept in every area’.
Another ex-Bhoys forward, Chris Sutton, also reacted on Twitter by stating that it was a humiliation for a Rangers side that just didn’t step up to the challenge against Celtic this afternoon.
