Celtic defeated Aberdeen 3-1 at Celtic Park this afternoon.
Celtic opened up a seven point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership this afternoon with a 3-1 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park.
The Bhoys beat Dundee United and Hearts in the last six days, before they had to face second placed Aberdeen at Celtic Park – and it was Ronny Deila’s men who came out on top.
A cagey first half appeared to be ending with Adam Rooney flashing a header wide after a superb Jonny Hayes cross, but Celtic went down the other end to open the scoring themselves, with Kieran Tierney’s inch-perfect cross being headed home by Leigh Griffiths.
Griffiths then made it two after the break, converting a penalty after Ash Taylor had foolishly hacked Kris Commons down inside the area.
James Forrest then made it three with a cool finish, as Celtic’s dominance paid off with goals, before Rooney gave the Dons a late consolation with a looping header over Craig Gordon.
The result means that, despite Aberdeen’s early season dominance at the top of the table, Celtic have now opened up a seven point lead as they chase a fifth successive Scottish Premiership title.
