Celtic beat Morton 3-0 in the Scottish Cup this afternoon.
Celtic picked up a much-needed win this afternoon, as they beat Championship side Greenock Morton 3-0 in the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park.
The Bhoys have come in for criticism throughout the season, and manager Ronny Deila’s position was again brought into question by the 0-0 midweek draw with Dundee on Tuesday – and fans then saw Rangers hammer Dundee 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
However, Celtic did bounce back from that disappointing stalemate by beating second tier side Morton 3-0 in the Scottish Cup quarter finals today, sending them into the semi-finals alongside Dundee United and Rangers, with Hibernian taking on Inverness this afternoon.
It was a dominant first half display which saw Celtic grab the win, as Scottish trio Leigh Griffiths, Gary Mackay-Steven and Callum McGregor all found the back of the net inside 35 minutes.
Celtic pushed for more goals in the second half, ending the game with 64% of possession and 27 shots on goal, but couldn’t extend their lead as the match finished 3-0.
The Bhoys will now be firm favourites to win the competition, but fans may be looking for an Old Firm clash against Rangers in the semi-finals, which would certainly be a fascinating encounter – but for now, manager Deila will just be glad to pick up a win after another difficult week.
