Celtic drew 1-1 at home with Rangers this afternoon.
Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong scores their first goal past Rangers’ Wesley Foderingham
Celtic and Rangers played out a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park this afternoon as Clint Hill grabbed a late equaliser for the visitors.
Celtic went into the game having dropped just two points in the Scottish Premiership this season, and remained in the hunt for an unbeaten league season.
Brendan Rodgers’ men took the lead in the first half as Stuart Armstrong slammed a long-range strike past Wes Foderingham and into the bottom corner of the net.
Rangers pushed for an equaliser in the second half, and they got one when Emerson Hyndman’s effort was parried by Craig Gordon, and Clint Hill slid in to equalise.
Celtic had a late penalty appeal turned down as Hill challenged Leigh Griffiths, and the two fierce rivals had to settle for a point.
The result keeps Celtic’s unbeaten season going whilst ending Graeme Murty’s caretaker spell in charge of Rangers with a draw as Pedro Caixinha prepares to take the reins at Ibrox.
Chris Sutton – Lincoln City Manager
After the final whistle at Celtic Park, pundit and former Celtic ace Chris Sutton took to Twitter to offer his reaction to the game, suggesting that it was a ‘great advert for Scottish football’.
Sutton added that Murty has done a better job than Mark Warburton, but felt that Hill’s late challenge on Griffiths should have been given as a penalty.
Sutton also argued with Robbie Savage about the game, claiming that he knows little about Scottish football, and claimed Rangers played well against Celtic despite the gulf between the two clubs in the table.
