West Ham United continue to be linked with Maxi Gomez.

Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino has told Marca that they will not give up West Ham United-linked star striker Maxi Gomez for anything less than his release clause.
Gomez, 22, has been a sensation for Celta since arriving from Defensor Sporting in his native Uruguay in 2017, scoring 30 goals in 73 games.
A big, physical brute of a forward, Gomez has been linked with a whole host of clubs over the last year, but Celta have stood strong so far.
That stance doesn’t appear to be changing, as president Mourino offered a strong response to rumours about Gomez’s future, telling any interested clubs to pay attention to the €50million (£45million) release clause in Gomez’s contract if they want him.
“What is clear is that we are not going to give up Maxi, he has a clause and the teams that want him have to start paying attention to that amount, and from there, we can negotiate,” said Mourino.
Celta seemingly won’t deal for anything less than that amount, leaving West Ham in a tricky position, as they’re unlikely to be in a position to offer that kind of money.

The Daily Star noted earlier this week that West Ham have offered £25million, but Gomez himself may actually prefer a move to Valencia in order to play Champions League football.
Mourino’s comments come just as Fichajes in Spain have reported that Gomez has reached a personal agreement to join West Ham, and it’s now up to the two clubs to sort out a deal.
That report seems a little dubious at this stage, and with so many mixed messages flying around, Hammers fans will be hoping this saga is sorted one way or another soon, just to put an end to the rumours.
