John Terry reacted on Instagram to Aston Villa’s win against Arsenal on Saturday by posting a video to him celebrating Ollie Watkins winning strike.
It’s fair to say that the Chelsea legend was on the wind-up, as he clearly enjoyed Villa picking up the three points against the London club.
Going by Terry’s celebration to Watkins opening strike, it wasn’t just the Aston Villa assistant celebrating that win, but his inner-Chelsea also coming out.
When Terry reacted on Instagram, these are the messages that several current and ex-players posted in the comments section:
‘Celebrated more than me,’ wrote goalscorer Watkins, whilst Jack Grealish added: ‘Celebrated like me when you finally give me a free kick in training’.
Left-back Matt Targett said: ‘Haha love it’. Whilst Terry’s former Chelsea teammate, Salomon Kalou wrote: ‘Classic celebration JT style’.”
Villa’s defence has improved ten-fold since football returned to action after the first lockdown and Terry has played a huge part in that.
An all-English backline – Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Matt Targett, some of those players will be hoping to join Mings on the international stage if they continue in their current ways.
Konsa, in particular, has been a standout and many Aston Villa fans would argue that he has outperformed Mings for nearly a year now and he deserves that England call.
