Craig Burley has claimed that the ‘ceiling isn’t as high’ for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe, when you compare him to other players, as he told ESPN.
The former Chelsea midfielder compared the Arsenal academy product to someone like Mason Mount and suggested he isn’t on the 22-year-old’s level.
The Arsenal midfielder has been one of the form players in the Premier League this season and has netted in three games on the bounce.
That form has resulted in him earning a debut call-up for England, where he will be able to pit his wits alongside the likes of Foden, Jack Grealish and Mount.
But despite Smith Rowe being in such red-hot form, former Chelsea man, Burley, thinks he is a ‘good player’ but not as good as his rivals.
“I think he is a good player,” said Burley. “But I think the ceiling isn’t as high for him as it is for the likes of Phil Foden, Mason Mount and Marcus Rashford.
“He’s a good player, there’s no doubt about it and he’s made an impact, so we will see.”

This is where Smith Rowe has the chance to prove that he is far better than others suggest and this isn’t just a purple patch he is on.
What is even more impressive about Smit Rowe’s rise is that it has come during a period where Arsenal have struggled the most.
Whilst the Gunners aren’t anywhere near their best, they are turning a corner, showcasing more promise and a lot of that is down to their young guns.
If they can perform in such pressured environments for their club, then it stands them in good stead for their country.
