Chris Wood and Pontus Jansson have generally taken the limelight, but this player is very much loved by Leeds United fans.

With Leeds United flying in the Championship under Garry Monk’s stewardship, it’s fair to say that the vast majority of their squad has pulled their weight this campaign, with the club set for a play-off place.

However, while the true stars of the side like Chris Wood, Pontus Jansson, Kyle Bartley and Pablo Hernandez get the credit they greatly deserve, there’s one overlooked despite his brilliant form – Gaetano Beradi.

The 28-year-old versatile full back has had an excellent season, and hasn’t led Leeds down when he’s been called upon, even when taking up the unusual position of left back to fill in for Charlie Taylor, when required.

Beradi is also a big hit with the fans too, giving his shorts away to one supporter earlier this season as he wasn’t allowed to give over his shirt – as reports The Sun – while when six of Leeds’ foreign players decided they were injured under former boss Neil Redfearn, Beradi – genuinely injured himself – travelled with the team anyway, as reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

As well as this, a Leeds fanzine called The Square Ball drew a cartoon of Beradi as a Swiss army knife given his versatility, and the full back liked it so much, he asked for a copy himself, as reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

A huge hit with the fans and enjoying his best season in a Leeds shirt to date, it’s fair to say that Gaetano Beradi is undeniably Leeds United’s unsung hero.
