West Brom have not won a match since March, and were well on course to beat their previous highest scoring Premier League season.
West Bromwich Albion defender Allan Nyom believes that the club is still putting in maximum effort, but are not quite getting the rub of the green on the pitch, as reports West Brom’s official website.
Since defeating Arsenal 3-1 on the 18th March, West Brom have not won a single match – a run stretching eight matches, which includes six defeats – and while they have lost to the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and most recently Manchester City since then, they have also had some bad results for their level.
A 2-0 defeat to Watford and a 2-2 draw with Burnley represent two of those bad results, while their 1-0 loss to Southampton could cost them eighth place in the Premier League table, with the Saints now a point ahead of them going into the final day.
However, while some fans have speculated that the team have just given up and are ‘on the beach’ as such, Nyom has dismissed such claims and thinks that the Baggies are just being unlucky, and will do all they can to secure a positive result against Swansea City on Sunday.
“We were disappointed to lose against a very good Manchester City side,” Nyom said to West Brom’s official website.
“Everyone can see that the effort is still there but things just aren’t quite clicking the way they were before.
“We will keep fighting until the end of the season. We are looking forward to finishing on a high against Swansea.”
West Brom’s appalling run of form has seen the rest of the Premier League catch up with them, to the point that despite the fact they are ninth in the table, they are only five points clear of 16th-placed Watford.
However, if the Baggies are to be looking up the table rather than down, they need to better Southampton’s result when they play Stoke City on Sunday, with West Brom facing a recently safe Swansea City side.
