The former France international, currently at Sevilla, was sent off for clashing heads with Vardy in the Champions League.

Sevilla’s on loan midfielder Samir Nasri has accused Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy of cheating, after a clash of heads between the pair saw the Frenchman receive his marching orders, as reports BBC Sport.

In the Champions League round of 16 second leg, Nasri and Vardy both confronted each other leading with their heads, however Vardy theatrically went backwards as if he’d been struck full pelt, which wasn’t the case.

Ultimately, the referee took a dim view of the theatrics and booked both Vardy and Nasri, currently on loan at Sevilla from Manchester City, however that was Nasri’s second yellow of the night, so off he went.

Leicester ultimately won the tie 2-0 with Sevilla missing a late penalty that would have sent them through to the quarter finals, and Nasri has not held back in his criticism of England international Vardy since the incident took place.

“For me he’s a cheat because if he was a foreign player you, the English press, would be saying he’s a cheat,” Nasri said, as reported by BBC Sport. “They were winning 2-0, play the game like a man. You are not better than us but you are winning 2-0 and will qualify, just play the game.

“Look at the image. Yes he did it, but he did it well. He played it well. I thought the English players were tougher than that. He is the one who came to my face.

“It was a foul or something and then he pushed me and I said ‘what are you doing?’ and then he came to my face. That’s what happened. If I tell the truth I don’t think you will be able to write it. I would love to speak to him – there are too many cameras and security and I have to think about next year and not getting a big suspension.”

While Leicester will have a quarter-final to look forward to against one of Europe’s elite, they’ll go back to domestic action in the Premier League next, and will face an away trip to West Ham United.

As for Sevilla, they have a superb chance to solidify third place in La Liga as they take on fourth placed Athletico Madrid, who are five points behind them at present.
