The Reading manager had been heavily linked with a return back to his former club Ajax, whom he was coaching for previously.

Reading boss Jaap Stam has received no approach from Ajax regarding the vacant managerial position in Amsterdam, according to the former Manchester United and AC Milan defender’s agent, as reported by Voetbal Primeur and translated by Get Reading.
Peter Bosz recently swapped the Ajax dugout for Borussia Dortmund’s, which has sparked rumours that Stam could return to the Amsterdam club whom he’s represented as a player, defensive coach and assistant manager.

Stam himself has stated several times that he sees his future with Reading and hopes to reach the top of his managerial game with the Royals, as reported by BBC Sport, but his affiliation with Ajax could cause him to reconsider that if an approach was made.
However, speaking out regarding the rumours, Stam’s agent Henk van Ginkel poured cold water on the suggestions that it was definitely happening, and reiterated that Stam enjoys it very much in England, while stating that no approach from Ajax has been made.

“Jaap Stam is certainly not a coach at Ajax,” van Ginkel said, as reported by Voetbal Primeur. “Jaap has a good time in England. He is not approached.”
Following the disappointment of losing the play-off final on penalties to Huddersfield Town, Reading fans are bracing themselves for key departures all over the pitch and are desperately hoping that Stam remains at the Madejski Stadium.
As for an incoming perspective, there hasn’t really been any rumours of note regarding players that Stam being interested in, with the Royals noticeably quiet heading into the summer transfer window.
