The Hull City defender has a year on his contract left, and could do a lot more at Nottingham Forest than he can at Hull.
Michael Dawson of Nottingham Forest
With a huge cloud being lifted at Nottingham Forest following the departure of former owner Fawaz Al Hasawi, the Reds should make the most of this positivity and try and re-sign a club icon in Michael Dawson.
The 33-year-old came through the ranks at Forest before being sold to Tottenham Hotspur in 2005, and has since gone onto become a full England international, as well as racking up over 300 appearances for Spurs.
These days Dawson is at Hull City, who have just been relegated from the Premier League. He has a year remaining on his contract with the Tigers, with the centre back making 23 appearances in all competitions this season.
By going back to Forest, however, Dawson would essentially be going full circle in his career – with the possibility of finishing where he started and going from apprentice to master.

When Dawson was breaking through at Nottingham Forest, as an England U21 as well, he was guided by former England international and Forest club legend Des Walker, with Walker’s experience working wonders with Dawson’s raw ability.
Now, with Forest centre back Joe Worrall being called up to the England Toulon squad – which is a mixture of U18, U19 and U20 players – Dawson could assist Worrall’s development in the same way Walker did for him.
Dawson is also head and shoulders above any centre back at Forest, and would be a superb addition to Mark Warburton’s side. Longshot ? Maybe.
