Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton has expressed his delight over the news that 34-year-old midfielder David Vaughan will remain at The City Ground for another year at least, as posted via his personal Twitter account.

The former Wales international is a key man at The City Ground despite his age, and made 35 appearances in all competitions during the 2016/17 season, scoring once and assisting twice from deep in midfield.

Vaughan is immensely popular amongst the Forest faithful for his ability to read the game, his tackling, his impeccable vision, and a passing range – both short and long – that it’s gotten to a stage where if Vaughan plays well, Forest play well.

Taking to his Twitter account, Warburton said that the contract extension Vaughan has signed is nothing less than the player deserves, and that he personally is very happy that the midfielder chose to pledge his future to the Reds.

Forest survived in the Championship by just two goals and will be hoping for a brighter season next campaign, though The City Ground seems to be a beacon of positivity over the last few weeks, with Fawaz Al Hasawi’s turbulent reign finally over.

Evangelos Marinakis has completed a takeover of the club, and Vaughan signing a new deal will be the proverbial cherry on top of the cake for the Forest faithful.
