With Nottingham Forest’s seasonal regression under Fawaz Al Hasawi’s ownership looking likely to take them into League One, it’s imperative to the club’s future that they find a way to survive.
Forest are currently two points above the relegation zone and without a permanent manager as they approach the final stretch of the season, with a return to League One a genuine possibility.
Whereas last time Forest went into League One, there was always a feeling that it would be a temporary measure, and that the club would be in the Championship again sooner rather than later.
That proved the case as Forest finished 7th, 4th and 2nd in their three League One seasons, knocking on the door every year until they finally broke it down.

If they go down this time however, that feeling isn’t there – instead, it’s a belief the club would struggle and end up like other badly run clubs, such as Blackpool or Coventry City.
Should Forest survive, there’s a chance someone may finally take the club from Al Hasawi, allowing them to have a fresh start. If they fall, Al Hasawi won’t be interested in a sale as no-one will offer what he wants, meaning Forest will suffer for a long time.
