Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock believes that Fulham have the best side in the Championship play-offs, but is all too aware that anything can happen at this stage, as reports the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

During his career, Warnock has triumphed on four separate occasions in the play-offs, while he has also been on the losing end twice – both of which came in the Championship with Sheffield United and Crystal Palace respectively.

Warnock’s current side, Cardiff City, went to his former club – and play-off contenders – Huddersfield Town at the weekend and saw the Bluebirds come away with a 3-0 win, meaning that the Terriers will finish the season in fifth place.

Speaking after the game, Warnock backed his former side – who will face Sheffield Wednesday in the play-offs – to put on an exciting encounter, and tipped Fulham for play-off success – despite having reservations over their defence.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock acknowledges the fans after the match

“I am glad they have got Sheffield Wednesday, that should be a really good game,” Warnock said, as reported by the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. “I don’t think a draw would be a bad result at the John Smith’s, with the pressure of Hillsborough on Wednesday in the second leg.

“Fulham for me are the best team in the play-offs, however they haven’t got the best defence, so anything can happen this year.

“I’m glad I’m going to be sat on my deck chair watching the play-offs, I’ll be envious of the other managers that are contesting them that’s for sure.”

Cardiff’s turnaround under Warnock has been nothing short of tremendous, with the Bluebirds in the relegation zone when Warnock took over in October, and their 3-0 win at Huddersfield meant that they finished the season in 12th.

Despite the season only finishing on Sunday, the 68-year-old hasn’t hung around when it comes to transfers, and has revealed that the Bluebirds are close to signing three or four players, as reported by BBC Sport.
