The Egypt international spent just over five weeks away from the club due to the Africa Cup of Nations and a lot has changed in that time.

Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady has said that returning to the club after the Africa Cup of Nations was like coming into a new club, as reported by the Yorkshire Post.

The 29-year-old reached the final with Egypt, missing eight Hull matches in the process, and in that time the Tigers changed managers, brought in eight new players and lost the services of Robert Snodgrass and Jake Livermore.

You could have forgiven Elmohamady for feeling a bit overwhelmed given the upheaval at the club, however it seems that has not been the case at all.

Instead, the Egypt international was full of praise for how things are at the KCOM Stadium at present, and feels he is taking to new manager Marco Silva’s methods.

“I have returned to a new club,” Elmohamady said, as reported by the Yorkshire Post. “Everything has changed. A new manager, seven new players and some players have gone.

“We had the week (training) in Portugal with everyone together and that was good, as I could see the manager’s systems. It is different to before. To be honest, everyone looks comfortable. There is a lot of confidence at the minute. Hopefully, that will help us push up the table.

“I think we are in a stronger position now. The results we have had in the last month have given the players, the fans and people around the club the confidence to stay positive and look forward to games. Hopefully, that will keep us in the Premier League.”

Hull are currently 19th in the Premier League, but are just one point off safety, albeit with an inferior goal difference.

The Tigers face an away trip to Leicester City in their next fixture and a victory there will be harder to come by after the Foxes’ return to form against Liverpool earlier this week.
