La Liga club Malaga find themselves in a financial swamp but could Premier League teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea take advantage and bring in some bargain buys?
After Santi Cazorla has become the subject of Arsene Wenger’s admiration fellow Malaga player Salmon Rondon has now been significantly linked with a move to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur with Andre Villas Boas a keen admirer of the Venezuelan marksman.
As Malaga have become mind bogglingly financial catastrophic quite suddenly this summer with reports of unpaid tax bills and wages at the club rumours persist that an impromptu car boot sale of footballing talent may be on the horizon at the Andalusian club.
So who should be a target for Premier League clubs?
Jeremy Toulalan
The no nonsense, uncompromising, holding midfielder was one of Malaga’s big signings last summer when all seemed rosy at the club. Now however the 28 year old would become one of the main transfer targets from around Europe if Malaga have to sell. A regular France international, before facing disciplinary action after Les Bleus dismal 2010 World Cup he could be available at a great price and in the past has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.
Isco
He seemed disinterested at the Olympic Games but don’t be fooled; the 20 year old former Valencia midfielder is a supreme talent. Any team in the Premier League would be lucky to have him at the club but face a battle to sign him from the team he supported since he was a boy.
Joris Mathijsen
One of the more vocal players in the dispute over unpaid wages the 32 year old Dutch international has a wealth of experience at international level and club level in his career in Holland and Germany. Despite being heavily linked with a return to his homeland he would be a brilliant addition to teams looking to sure up their centre back positions.
Carlos Kameni
One time Wolves target and a regular in gossip columns for the last ten years it is hard to believe the Cameroonian is just 28 years old. In the past he’s been linked with the best clubs in the world but has recently struggled, losing his international starting spot and being unable to dislodge Caballero since his move to Malaga in January. He may finally make the move to England this summer.
Julio Baptista
The mercurial Brazilian split opinion during his time at Arsenal with many remembering poor performances and struggles with consistency but also the 4 goals he smashed home against Liverpool in an unplayable performance in 2007. He has been in great scoring from since signing for Malaga and may fancy another crack at the Premier League.
Would you want these, or any other Malaga players at your club in 2012-13?
