The Argentine formed part of a lethal attack at Napoli alongside Edinson Cavani, where he struck 14 goals and provided 16 assists in 2011/12, earning a £23 million move to Napoli.
One season later PSG decided to buy Cavani to recreate the attack, but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line too – Lavezzi finds himself out of form and increasingly out of favour.
Lavezzi has played 15 first team games for the French champions this season, but has not completed 90 minutes on a single occasion.
With Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore also competing for first team spots, Lavezzi has needed his A-game, and hasn’t brought it to the table.
So far the 28-year-old has scored just one goal and provided two assists, and has been an unused substitute in two of PSG’s last four Ligue 1 games.
The Express claim Arsenal and Tottenham are interested, with French website Le10Sport their source – one which is about as hit and miss as they come, last month claiming Sergio Aguero was a target for Chelsea.
With the arrival of old pal Edinson Cavani failing to spark his form – which has gone backwards from last year’s 11 goals and nine assists, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see PSG cash in to free up funds for Juan Mata or Paul Pogba.
The good news for Arsenal and Tottenham is Lavezzi’s price tag has peaked. A fee of £15-20 million could seal his signature, and the Argentine would be an ideal candidate to bolster the strength of the left wing of either team, and we suspect his style would make him a perfect addition for the Gunners.
