Robbie Keane has praised Sadio Mane for causing ‘confusion’ during the build-up to Fabinho’s goal for Liverpool against Burnley on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions.

The former striker added that Mane was ‘causing a lot of problems’, as Fabinho bundled home from a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner in the first half – it proved to be the only goal of game.

Mane, 29, was thrown straight into the XI after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty and he was already doing damage even if he didn’t get on the scoresheet.

It was a very important win for the Reds because, from their perspective, it proves that they aren’t giving up on this Premier League title.

Nonetheless, with Fabinho set to get the headlines for scoring the only goal of the game, Keane liked what he saw from Mane instead.

“He’s not known for his goalscoring,” said Keane. “Mane has caused really confusion here with Mee. He is not really sure who he is marking, so he’s marking Matip.

“The run of Mane, he gets drawn to the ball and who scores? Fabinho. Bad, bad judgment by the defenders. But Mane caused a lot of problems.”

It’s interesting that Klopp brought Mane in for today’s game, with new signing Luis Diaz making way and Diogo Jota also being benched.

But the Merseyside club have some important games coming up, so that is a big reason behind that.

Plus, it now proves the depth in quality Klopp has to choose from in attack because he can now call upon a player like Jota.

Not forgetting Diaz, who has had a brilliant start to his career in the Premier League, and Harvey Elliott, who is looking as good as ever since returning from injury.
