Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could now face a problem with Gabriel Jesus.

The former Arsenal star has said that Jesus would want to play regularly now that he is back from injury.

And that, according to Sky Sports pundit Merson, will cause problems for Arsenal.

The 25-year-old Brazil international striker returned to action this past weekend when he came on as a substitute against Fulham in the London derby.

Jesus had been on the sidelines since he suffered a long-term injury while playing for Brazil at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The striker joined Arsenal from defending champions Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.

Paul Merson on Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus

Merson said: “Gabriel Jesus coming back is a bit of a problem for Arsenal because the lad will want to play – he didn’t sign to be a bit-part player like he was at Man City. It will cause problems in time but at the moment it’s like another signing.”

HITC View: No need to worry about Gabriel Jesus

In our view, there is no need for Arsenal fans to worry about Gabriel Jesus.

Arteta has publicly said that the striker needs to earn his place in the starting lineup.

And the striker will know that.

Yes, Jesus will be keen on playing regularly now, but he is old enough and mature enough to understand that he has to show in training that he deserves a place in the starting lineup.
