Derby have signed Hull City’s Curtis Davies – who would have been ideal for Leeds United.
Hull City’s Curtis Davies
While Leeds United search for their next manager, serious business is being done in the Championship transfer market.
In fact the best deal of the summer might just have been completed this morning, with Derby County sealing a deal for Hull City’s Curtis Davies.
The BBC confirmed the move, which the Mirror claimed has cost them just £500,000 after the Rams met a clause in Curtis’ contract.

Davies is a tremendous acquisition for Derby, who had been looking for a dominant centre-back to play a key role in their promotion challenge next season.
The former West Brom defender would have been ideal for Leeds United, who have just seen loanee Kyle Bartley head back to Swansea City, who have made clear they do not want to sell him.
Doubts remain over Liam Cooper’s quality to partner Pontus Jansson at the back, and Davies would have been a big upgrade.

A defensive pairing of Davies and Jansson could even have been a better one than Jansson and Bartley.
Letting Davies leave is disastrous for Hull, who are still searching for their next manager after suffering relegation.
As far as Leeds are concerned, they were never really in the race, and this is down to the fact they are concentrating on finding a new head coach.
While they want to take their time to get it right, the longer the search goes on the more time is wasted in the transfer market.
Their rivals are not hanging about.
