Leeds are interested in signing Kent from Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.
The Whites have had a bid for the former Liverpool winger already turned down, and they are preparing to make a new offer of £14 million, according to the report.
Former Rangers striker Boyd, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that the Gers simply cannot sell Kent if they are to stop bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row in 2020-21.
Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun: “If Rangers sell Ryan Kent to Leeds, they can almost certainly kiss goodbye to any hope of winning the Premiership title.
“The winger is the best player on the books at Ibrox by a distance and the club should not even be entertaining offers.
“Given what is at stake this season — with Celtic chasing ten in a row — it would be a catastrophic blow for boss Steven Gerrard to lose Kent.”

Rangers stay
Leeds are a massive club and will play in the Premier League next season for the first time since 2004.
However, Rangers are a big club as well, and the Gers have to stay strong and fend off any offers for Kent.
The winger is one of the best in his position in the Scottish Premiership, and he will be a big player for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.
If Rangers win the title this season and Kent does well, then the Gers will be able to sell him for much more than £14 million.
Meanwhile, former Rangers star Alex Rae has praised Kent on Twitter for his performance for Rangers against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old winger scored for the Gers in the 77th minute in the 2-0 win at Ibrox.
