Casper Sloth now top-scorer for Leeds United U21s; yet still no first-team chance

The Danish player looks increasingly unlikely to play for Leeds United again.

In an age when some footballers throw their proverbial toys out of the pram the moment they are dropped, the attitude of Leeds United midfielder Casper Sloth is a breath of fresh air.

The 23-year-old has played just 14 times for the Whites since signing from Aarhus back in 2014 but this season he has not featured at all, and he has only even made the substitutes’ bench on three occasions.

So does he sulk? No, instead he keeps his head down, turns out week after week for Leeds’ under-21s and currently finds himself the club’s top-scorer at that level.

Not bad for a midfielder seemingly deemed surplus to requirements by former manager Uwe Rosler and current boss Steve Evans.

Of course Sloth has no divine right to play for Leeds’ senior side, but it is indicative of his nature that he is not letting that affect his performances when he does get game-time, albeit at a lower level.

Surely Sloth will leave during the upcoming emergency loan window; and yet we have been saying that with each new transfer period and still he remains at Elland Road.
