Casper Ruud is one of many tennis stars who love to blend fashion with their sport.

In fact, across the entire sporting world, it is becoming more and more commonplace for athletes to be associated with style wherever possible.

With Aryna Sabalenka having recently partnered with Gucci, and Carlos Alcaraz having been a long-term ambassador of Louis Vuitton, these luxury brands are starting to realise the power that sport can have in boosting their profile.

However, when asked to discuss who he felt was the most stylish tennis player of all time, Ruud seemed to know his answer instantly.

He opted for a timeless classic, rather than the contemporary style of these two world number ones.

Chatting with Tennis Magazin, he spoke about everything from the tennis schedule to the comparisons between generations.

However, after touching on these important topics, Ruud was keen to tackle the more entertaining side of the sport.

Asked to name the most stylish tennis player of all time, he claimed: “Roger Federer has always stood out to me. He always looks fresh, well-groomed and classic, very timeless. On today’s tour, there are also many players who express their style in different ways, but I really appreciate this classic elegance.”

There is proof to back up Ruud’s claim too.

When Roger Federer was voted the most stylish man of the decade

Back in 2019, three years before the Swiss superstar retired, GQ held a vote on the most stylish man of the decade.

Not restricting the poll to solely sports stars, Federer was up against the likes of Harry Styles, LeBron James, Timothée Chalamet and more.

As part of his bracket, he directly beat out ASAP Rocky and Jonah Hill, before toppling the former One Direction member in the semi-finals.

Federer then beat Chalamet in the final to claim the crown, as voted for by the people.

The magazine would write: “So: what can we learn? At least a few things. First, that consistency counts. Roger has been dressing like a champ for the full decade; at 38, he knows what it takes to show up and look good.

“Roger Federer, the People’s Choice for Most Stylish Man of the Decade. You wear it well, Roger. And we’ll see you all in 2020.”
