Jobi McAnuff thinks it’s time for Blackburn Rovers to ‘cash in’ on Everton and Leeds United target, Ben Brereton Diaz ahead of transfer deadline day, as he told Sky Sports.
The Sky pundit added that it doesn’t look like Diaz will sign a new contract at Ewood Park, with Leeds and Everton hunting for his signature.
The £20 million star has one-year left on his contract and he might be one of the big talking points during Thursday’s transfer cut-off point.
Both Everton and Leeds have been pretty busy this summer and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they do some business on deadline day itself.
The duo were in a relegation battle last time out and they will want to stay well away from those troubles during this campaign.
Could a player like Diaz help their cause if they add him to their ranks, well EFL expert McAnuff spoke about the striker issues on Merseyside and the player’s future.
“You have got the likes of Ben Brereton Diaz, the last year of his contract,” said McAnuff. “Seem to always talk about him being linked away to possibly Everton. We know their striker issues.
“From Blackburn’s perspective, they can’t get him to sign a new contract, so it would make sense for him to financially for them to cash in now.”
LEEDS NEED DIAZ MORE THAN EVERTON
Everton have added Neal Maupay to their ranks in recent days, so is that enough firepower for Frank Lampard, if you want to include the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin as well?
On paper, the answer would be yes, but if Calvert-Lewin spends the same amount of time on the sidelines as he did last season, then the answer would be no.
Either way, Leeds probably need the player more than those from Merseyside because Rodrigo went off injured yesterday, whilst Patrick Bamford is sitting in the same boat as Calvert-Lewin.
This is one possible deal to look out for because it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Diaz head for the exit door.
