Manchester United defensive midfielder Casemiro has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are ahead of them in terms of their progress, as quoted on the club’s official website.

Casemiro made the comments about Arsenal and Manchester City after Manchester United beat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium in London this past weekend.

It was the first major trophy for Erik ten Hag as the United manager.

The Red Devils are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 49 points from 24 matches.

Arsenal are at the top with 57 points from 24 games.

Defending champions Manchester City are second with 55 points from 25 matches.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro on Arsenal and Manchester City

Casemiro said: “We’re growing and gaining respect in this country. But it’s early days and we have to keep improving. We can’t hide there are teams ahead of us like Manchester City and Arsenal.

“We have to deal with this reality, but we’re understanding our manager’s philosophy and we will keep growing. My history has always been about winning since I was a kid, so here it isn’t any different. I’m here to help my team-mates and Manchester United.”

Warning to the Gunners and the Citizens

Arsenal and Manchester City have been the two best teams in the Premier League so far this season.

There is no doubt about that.

However, Manchester United are coming.

Who knows, the Red Devils could even launch a late challenge for the title this season.

With players such as Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, David De Gea, Lisandro Martínez and Raphael Varane in the team, United will be confident of certainly challenging for the Premier League title next season, especially if they are able to sign a quality number 9 in the summer transfer window.

Casemiro is a Real Madrid legend who won trophies after trophies at the Spanish club, and the Brazilian’s aforementioned comments should serve as a warning to Arsenal and City.
