TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has said that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should make a bid for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the summer transfer window.

The former Chelsea player has raved about Brentford star Toney in The Times and has outlined his attributes.

The talkSPORT pundit has noted that the English striker is similar to former Arsenal star Dennis Bergkamp.

Cascarino believes that the 27-year-old would be a good signing for Arsenal or Liverpool.

The pundit has said that Chelsea and Manchester United should also consider a move for the former Newcastle United striker.

Arsenal and Liverpool told to bid for Ivan Toney

Cascarino wrote: “I cannot believe Ivan Toney’s improvement technically over the past 18 months. He was one of the best players at Anfield.

“The Brentford striker has added all sorts of deft touches to his game, such as the clever pass that assisted Bryan Mbeumo’s disallowed goal. He has a finesse which, dare I say it, echoes that of Dennis Bergkamp.

“Toney’s subtlety complements his stature and finishing. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United should all consider a move.”

Summer transfer to Arsenal or Liverpool unlikely

In our view, Arsenal or Liverpool are unlikely to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool do not need another striker.

Yes, Toney scores goals and can be a menace to the opposition defenders, but manager Jurgen Klopp does not really need another forward.

Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez will be Liverpool’s main options in attack next season.

Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus as their main striker.

Eddie Nketiah is also an option for manager Mikel Arteta.

And if the Gunners do decide to bring in another striker, then it is likely to be a world-class player who can make them better and help them compete in Europe.
