Tony Cascarino criticised Tottenham Hotspur central defender Davinson Sanchez on talkSPORT (8:13am, February 21, 2021).

The former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker, who now works as a pundit for talkSPORT, believes that Sanchez has a bad habit in his game.

Cascarino believes that because the 24-year-old Colombia international central defender is quick, he thinks that he can recover, which is why he gives centre-forwards chances.

The pundit said about Sanchez on talkSPORT (8:13am, February 21, 2021): “He has got a really bad habit in his game. I have seen this in centre-halves before where because he is quick, he relies on his pace, but sometimes he gives people a bit of edge of a chance because he knows he can recover and get back, and sometimes he doesn’t get there now.”

Davinson Sanchez needs to do better

Sanchez is a good defender, but the 24-year-old still needs to improve.

There is a reason why the Tottenham centre-back is not guaranteed a place in head coach Jose Mourinho’s starting lineup.

Eric Dier is the mainstay in the Spurs back-line, but Mourinho has changed the other centre-back a number of times this season.

According to WhoScored, Sanchez has made 10 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League and has played five times in the Europa League for Spurs so far this season.

The defender needs to work on his game and improve if he is to make himself a regular in the Tottenham starting lineup in the coming months and years.
