Tottenham are spoiled for choice with their defensive options.
Watford’s M’Baye Niang in action with Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier
Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier produced a superb performance at the weekend as his side demolished Watford 4-0.
Trippier is used mainly as a back-up to Kyle Walker, but has repeatedly shown when called upon that he is very capable of making a seamless transition.
The former Burnley defender’s attacking qualities were on show against the Hornets, and Trippier has been winning praise for his tireless display.
One of the pundits to praise him was former Ireland international Tony Cascarino, who told The Times that it is only a matter of time before Kyle Walker loses his place in both the Tottenham team and England side to Trippier.
He said: “This probably isn’t very fair on Kyle Walker because he has had a fine season but it can’t be long before he loses his place at right back for Tottenham Hotspur and England to Kieran Trippier.
“Walker helps to drive Tottenham forward but the quality of Trippier’s delivery is such that you can’t afford to leave him out of the team. I think he would get in at right back for almost every team in the Premier League.”

The problem for Tottenham is that they can’t play both, but it is a high class problem for head coach Mauricio Pochettino to have.
Walker’s form has been outstanding this season and there is no need to move him aside just yet.
