Tottenham ace Harry Kane scored a hat-trick against Southampton on Boxing Day.

Tony Cascarino has claimed in his Times column that Harry Kane’s simplistic approach is the secret behind his superb goalscoring record, after he notched another hat-trick for Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old scored his eighth Premier League hat-trick with a treble during Spurs’ 5-2 win over Southampton, taking him level on par with Thierry Henry and Michael Owen for three goals in a game.
It has seen him surpass Alan Shearer’s record of 36 league goals in a calendar year, set 22 years ago by the Newcastle legend, and is now just four league goals away from reaching a century in England’s top flight.

Former Celtic and Chelsea star Cascarino believes Kane’s “basic game” is what makes him stand out. The Times pundit also named Kane alongside Dele Alli and Serge Aurier in his Premier League Team of the Week.
“What I most admire about Harry Kane is how brilliant his basic game is. He keeps things quite simple — if he gets space; he shoots, if his team-mates have the ball he works to find space in the box,” Cascarino said.
“He has worked so hard on his game after many loan spells away from Tottenham and it’s great to see that work pay off with all his goals in recent seasons.”

A third successive golden boot is on the horizon as England international Kane sits three goals clear at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with 18, as Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah remains on 15.
Spurs do not play until January following their Boxing Day triumph, but they play twice within two days against Swansea City on January 2 before facing Swansea City on the fourth.
