Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT (24/07/21 at 6:55 am) that the potential transfers of Aston Villa and Tottenham duo, Jack Grealish and Harry Kane this summer, might just take a ‘long time’ to finalise.

The former striker used Alexis Sanchez and Virgil van Dijk as examples and how their respective transfers in previous years took a ‘long time’ to complete.

Both Aston Villa and Spurs are fighting to keep their star men at their club this summer, with Manchester City trying to lure them towards their direction.

And Cascarino thinks it’s not going to be as easy as they think in trying to get the England duo to sign on the dotted line.

“There is a pursuit of a transfer and it can take a long time,” said Cascarino. “Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United took nearly a year to get it over the line.

“Virgil van Dijk took a long time to get to Liverpool. Big transfers take their time.

“Obviously, Harry would be wanted by many, many different clubs. and Jack likewise. It’s not always easy.”

Whilst Kane’s interview with Gary Neville didn’t fill Spurs supporters with great optimism, he is still their player and now new faces are starting to come through the door.

As for Grealish, it’s going to take quite a lot to lure the boyhood Villa fan away from B6 and it’s going to be even more difficult for the club’s owners to budge.

Villa are a club on the up, they have made huge progression since Dean Smith took over, they have spent nearly £300 million on talent and Grealish has signed two new contracts under their ownership.

And with Man City lurking once more, it seems as though they are going to tie his talents down once more.
