Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT on Wednesday morning that Duncan Ferguson would ‘scare’ a few Everton players in the dressing room if he became their next manager.
It was suggested to the former striker that Everton should replace the departed Carlo Ancelotti with the 49-year-old.
Ferguson has taken the Everton role for a brief period before, and been successful, but he has never been handed the reigns on a permanent basis.
Cascarino shared that Ferguson has shown signs that he can get the best out of a Dominic Calvert-Lewin and produce a style of football that Everton fans like.
“I happen to, unfortunately, play against Duncan when he made his debut for Dundee United against Celtic,” said Cascarino.
“And he pretty much scared me as an 18-year-old, so I think he would scare a few in the dressing room.
“He did what Evertonians wanted (when he took charge for a brief period). They wanted a certain way of play. They got things in the box quickly. Calvert-Lewin profited from that.
“Duncan, for me, got the maximum out of what that team needed to do and the change they needed to make.”

It’s one thing being a number two and another then taking the hot seat and having to make all the big calls.
Ferguson, no doubt, has the character to deal with the pressures that come with the Goodison Park job, but does he have the quality to push the Toffees into Europe, especially given that they will be moving into their new stadium in the coming years.
Either way, whilst Ancelotti’s exit has surprised those on Merseyside, those in the boardroom need to be swift in bringing in a new face because they aren’t the only ones looking for a new manager in the Premier League.
