Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT that Steven Bergwijn is only starting games for Tottenham because he follows ‘all’ the instructions that are provided to him by Jose Mourinho.
Since the turn of the year, Bergwijn, when available, has started every Premier League game for Tottenham – aside from one match where he was injured.
During that period, the £27 million (BBC Sport) attacker has supplied three assists – his only assists of the campaign, added with the fact that he has zero goals this season.
A lot has been made about how Mourinho sets up his team and Bergwijn was a talking point for Cascarino yesterday.
“Steven Bergwijn, who I have watched him a lot in Dutch football,” said Cascarino.
“He’s in the team because he does one thing. He follows all the instructions that are given to him.
“But never looking to be a dangerous player. He hasn’t scored a goal this season. Yet he’s a wide right player.”

Well, the under-fire Mourinho will be expected to select Bergwijn from the off again today, as Spurs take on relegation-threatened West Brom.
Defeat against Sam Allardyce’s men would well and truly send the world crashing down for the Tottenham players.
It’s not only the results which are going south, but the performances to boot, and if they continue, then there is only one way Mourinho will head towards… and that’s the exit door.
