Arsenal fans on Twitter raved about Eddie Nketiah’s performance after he helped England U21’s bag a 2-1 win against Austria last night.
The highly-rated striker opened the scoring for his nation when he pressed the opposition defender before going through on goal and cooly dinking the ball over the keeper.
Nketiah has now netted an impressive seven goals in his last three games at this age level, as he is also one goal away from equalling Alan Shearer’s record of most goals for the U21’s.
The Arsenal academy product is currently sitting on 12 goals for the U21’s – one away from also levelling with a certain Francis Jeffers.
Arsenal fans weren’t surprised that Nketiah bagged again, as they were pleased with the manner in which he scored by putting the opposition under pressure first.
There is competition for Nketiah at both club and international level, so he will have to start playing regular games under Mikel Arteta if he is to become a senior international.
