What a match it’s shaping up to be between Liverpool and Everton right now.

Liverpool are winning 2-1 midway through the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s side blew away their city rivals for the opening 38 minutes, cruising into a two-goal lead.

Jordan Henderson, the Reds’ captain, opened the scoring with a stunning left-footed finish from outside the box.

Shortly after, Henderson, a £20 million signing 10 years ago, turned provider and released Mohamed Salah who added a second with a wonderful finish beyond Jordan Pickford.

But Everton pulled one back through Demarai Gray with six minutes in the half remaining.

Here’s some tweets from Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher on the first two goals.

It threatened to be a bit of a rout for Liverpool after racing into such an advantage.

But cliches aside, the third goal is always massive in football and Everton have got it.

There’s no guarantees that Rafael Benitez’s side will be able to build on the Gray goal.

But it’s set up nicely for a stunning second half at Goodison and more talking points – good and bad – is inevitable.

Since the third goal, the Toffees have been much the better side and a fascinating second 45 minutes awaits.
