Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to react after Aston Villa beat Everton 1-0 in the Premier League clash at Goodison Park earlier today.

Interestingly, the Sky Sports pundit believes Philippe Coutinho has already made one of his Aston Villa teammates better since his arrival.

What’s the story?

Well, Carragher was talking about Emiliano Buendia, who scored the game’s only goal on Merseyside earlier.

The 43-year-old believes Coutinho has improved his fellow South American, despite only arriving at Aston Villa on January 7th, which was 15 days ago.

You can see what Carragher tweeted in full below.

It is particularly intriguing to see the ex-Liverpool man state that Buendia has been Aston Villa’s best player in the last two games.

Is this true? Let’s take a look at the statistics.

Emiliano Buendia has shone for Aston Villa

In the 2-2 draw against Manchester United, nobody on the pitch completed more key passes than Buendia’s four, according to WhoScored.

The Argentine also embarked on four dribbles, which was again more than any other player from both sides could manage.

Buendia also ensured both of his shots were on target, showcasing the £75,000-a-week man’s accuracy when trying his luck.

Then, in today’s 1-0 win over Everton, WhoScored shows that the 25-year-old had four shots, more than any other player on the pitch.

Buendia also registered three successful dribbles, and showed off his work rate with four tackles – there has certainly been a noticeable improvement.

We agree with Carragher – playing alongside a gem like Coutinho will only improve the level of performance from those around him.

More specifically, both Buendia and Coutinho operate in the No.10 role, and defenders are clearly finding it difficult to contain both.

Add Jacob Ramsey to the mix, who makes some fantastic runs off the ball, and it must be very hard to stay on top of Aston Villa’s attackers.
