Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane may have already given an indication over the role he’ll play in the future now that Gareth Bale has arrived.

Speaking to Monday Night Football, Carragher suggested that he can see Kane dropping into a playmaking role now that Bale has arrived.

Kane set up four goals for Heung-Min Son at the weekend, as Tottenham stormed to a 5-2 victory against Southampton.

And Carragher was hugely impressed by Kane’s display, which highlighted his versatility.

“Kane drops between the lines and again Harry Kane, what a pass,” Carragher said.

“We talk about players of the past who have played that position, maybe a Bergkamp or a Zola, you talk about having eyes in your back of your head. It’s absolutely fantastic.

“This could be something for them going forward. I just think that could be a real prospect. Certainly with Gareth Bale coming in and that pace that Kane is going to need around him.”

Whether Jose Mourinho will want Kane dropping deeper to create space for Bale and Son now still remains to be seen.

In truth Kane has always been one of Tottenham’s best passers, despite his reputation has a finisher.

Kane is a rare combination of being a world-class number nine and a number 10, and the prospect of seeing him working in tandem with Bale and Son has seriously excited Spurs fans.

Unfortunately it could be a while before Tottenham supporters get to see their new look attack in full flow, as Bale is set to be sidelined until the middle of October with injury.
