Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has suggested in The Daily Mail that Arsenal duo Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should follow Jack Wilshere’s lead and leave the club.

Wilshere left Arsenal for Premier League rivals Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day.

The England international midfielder has struggled with injuries for the past few seasons.

The 24-year-old is now fully fit, but he was going to struggle for playing time for the Gunners during the 2016-17 campaign.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher is happy to see Wilshere make the decision to leave the Emirates Stadium for a season in search of regular football.

The former England international has suggested that Arsenal duo Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain should try to do the same.

“Wilshere featured in three of England’s games at Euro 2016,” Carragher wrote in The Daily Mail. “He admitted on Arsenal’s tour of America that this will be a definitive season for him and I like that he has chosen to go to Bournemouth to get up and running.

“Given Arsenal’s record with injuries, it might even be that a new way of working allows him to be available more.

“Perhaps in the future Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott will follow his lead. This is a make-or-break campaign for them. If it doesn’t work out, it would be best to try something new.”

Like Wilshere, Walcott has also had injury problems in recent years and is not guaranteed a place in the Arsenal starting lineup.

The 27-year-old England international, who can play as a forward or as a winger, has a lot of potential, but he needs to play regularly.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who can operate as a winger or as a central midfielder, is 23 years of age, and he should also be aiming to play regularly.
