Sunderland sit rock bottom of the Premier League, and are still yet to record a victory after 10 league games.

Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that rock-bottom Sunderland could be one of the worst side’s to ever grace the Premier League, as quoted by the Mirror.

The Black Cats were embarrassed by Arsenal on Saturday, despite drawing level after 65 minutes, and eventually lost the game 4-1 in front of their frustrated supporters.

Carragher, who made 508 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, was speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football programme, and explained how he has been shocked at how poor Sunderland have been this season, as quoted by the Mirror:

“There’s the Sunderland team that went down 10 years ago with 15 points. This team could beat it. Aston Villa last season had better quality than this side. I just think there was a bad attitude going straight through that club. I don’t see a bad attitude at Sunderland I just see a group of really poor players who I think would struggle in the Championship.”

With a record of two draws and eight losses from their opening 10 league outings, things really do look bleak on Wearside, and it will take a monumental effort from the Sunderland players to turn things around, and make a miraculous escape from the relegation zone.

If David Moyes’ men are to have any chance whatsoever of survival, their next two league games will be pivotal to their hopes.

A trip to the South Coast to take on Bournemouth is followed by a must win home game against Hull City, and anything other than six points from those outings really could mean the beginning of the end for the Black Cats, with Liverpool, Leicester City, Swansea City and Chelsea to come in their following four games.
